The Neosho Police Department is seeking information on an armed robbery that happened early Saturday afternoon.
Police Chief David McCracken said at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, a man entered Main Stop, 320 E. Main, waited until customers had left, then produced a 6-inch wooden-handled knife and demanded money from the woman on duty.
“He threatened the clerk and she gave him the money out of the cash register,” McCracken said.
The man is described as having light shaggy hair, standing about 5-foot-9 to 6-foot, and as being heavyset. He was wearing blue jeans and a green coat with a two- to three-inch black stripe around the front.
“It’s unconfirmed, but it is believed he left the scene on foot,” McCracken said. “He made the clerk lie on the floor.”
Antonio Jaime, owner of the Main Stop, said this morning the clerk was not hurt in the incident.
At this point, police are following up several leads produced as a result of a check of the neighborhood. But they are also asking for the public’s help, and want to know if anyone saw anything suspicious around the time of the robbery, such as someone running or walking away from the scene.
If you have information, please call the police department at 451-8012 and ask for the investigation division, or speak with any police officer.
