A Neosho man has been sentenced to life in prison and an additional 227 years in connection the rape and assault of his estranged wife.
In July, a McDonald County jury convicted Kevin Aaron Todd, 49, of rape, sodomy, armed criminal action and felonious restraint. Todd was accused of holding his 55-year-old estranged wife hostage in his home in September 2009 for more than 12 hours. A probable cause affidavit filed by Neosho police officer Ericson Mathew said the woman had been stabbed more than 20 times with a pronged barbecue fork before Todd allegedly forced her to have sex with him. He then reportedly tied her up in the bathroom before falling asleep.
The woman escaped and was found at the home of a neighbor. She told authorities she had gone to the home she once shared with Todd to collect her belongings.
On Wednesday, Todd was sentenced to life in prison on one of the counts, and 227 years in prison on the other four. The sentences will run consecutively, or one after the other.
