Dan Trimble came to work this morning and couldn't believe what he saw.
Trimble, the manager at the Westco furniture store on 901 S. Neosho Blvd., came to work and found his store heavily damaged by the severe storms that whipped through the Neosho area late Tuesday night. The storm packed high winds and driving rain, as well as severe lightning.
The north section of the roof looks to have been peeled back by the winds, similar to how one opens a sardine can. Half of the roof has been destroyed, exposing the store's interior to the elements. There is heavy water damage to the northern half of the interior of the store — causing damage to not only the building, but the merchandise as well.
Trimble said his team will work today to start assessing the damage and salvaging what merchandise they can. He said they will begin clean-up of the water inside the store as soon as possible.
Trimble and Tom McKay with McKay Roofing were on the roof at approximately 9 a.m. Wednesday, looking over the damage.
