The Missouri Partnership group is planning the third in its series of half-day workshops to provide Missouri manufacturers with an orientation to supply chain opportunities in the fast-growing wind energy industry, according to Christopher Chung, chief executive officer of the Partnership.
The third and final workshop – targeted at manufacturers in Southwest Missouri and the surrounding areas – will be held July 7 in Neosho at the Arnold Farber Building on the campus of Crowder College.
Previous workshops were held in April in St. Louis and May in Kansas City. For more information and registration instructions, visit www.missouripartnership.com (under the “Events” tab) or call 1-314-725-0949. Registration is $35 in advance and $50 the day of the workshop.
The workshop features an orientation on growing trends in wind power, major supply chain needs in the wind energy systems industry, and retooling investments and process upgrades that suppliers must address in order comply with wind industry standards. Economic development representatives from the state of Missouri will be on hand to help prospective suppliers learn about incentives available to businesses planning to expand or locate in Missouri.
“Our primary objective in holding these workshops is to help our state’s companies successfully enter the wind energy supply chain, making Missouri an even more attractive location for the fast-growing wind-component manufacturing industry,” said Christopher Chung, CEO of the Missouri Partnership. “By entering the wind energy supply chain, Missouri companies have the opportunity to create new jobs for Missourians in the green energy economy, which has been a consistent focus of Governor Nixon’s economic development agenda.”
The July 7 workshop is sponsored by area businesses including: Empire District Electric; the Joplin Business and Industrial Development Corporation; Associated Electric Cooperative; Crowder College; City Utilities of Springfield; Able Manufacturing; FAG Bearings; Eagle Picher Technologies; the cities of Neosho, Missouri, and Pittsburg, Kansas; the Workforce Investment Board of Southwest Missouri; Missouri Southern State University; and the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
The Missouri Partnership is a public-private, non-profit corporation responsible for promoting Missouri for new business investment.
Missouri Partnership is supported by investments from the Missouri Department of Economic Development and the non-profit Hawthorn Foundation.
