Area man seriously hurt in accident

A Seneca man suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash that took place at 8:25 p.m. Friday on Missouri Highway 43, six miles south of Seneca in McDonald County.

Larry R. Roark, 51, was airlifted to Joplin’s Freeman West Hospital for treatment.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened as a southbound 2006 Ford driven by Roark drove off of the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment and a utility pole.

Roark was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, a patrol report noted.
