A local father is looking for his 14-year-old daughter, whom he has not heard from since Sunday night.

Steve Capps is seeking information on the whereabouts of his daughter, Paige Hatley. Paige is described as 5-feet-7, weighing about 145 pounds, with blue eyes and brownish-blonde hair.

“The last contact we had with her was Sunday night,” Capps told the Daily News Tuesday afternoon. “She was supposed to be staying with a friend, helping her friend’s dad move.

“On Sunday night, we got a call from someone purporting themselves to be the friend’s mother, saying it was getting late, but they still had one more load to unload, and could they bring Paige by at about 7 o’clock the next morning?”

But when the girl wasn’t home at 7 a.m., Capps called the Newton County Sheriff’s Department.

He also checked with the family Paige was supposed to have been staying with, but they said they hadn’t seen his daughter for a week.

“I have no clue where she is,” he said. “It’s really unusual for her not to contact someone in the extended family. She’s on her phone all the time.”

Capps said he didn’t know of his daughter having any boyfriends, particularly older teens. He said all of the boys she knows are around her age, 13 or 14.

If you have any information on the girl, please call the Newton County Sheriff’s Department at 451-8300 or Capps at 451-2626 (Griffith Motor Company).
