With the recent Joplin tornado, one business has moved – for now – to the former Scholastic Building on Harmony Street.

Communication Solutions, LLC, which was one mile east of Flying J, officially started calling on Monday, June 6.

“Our building suffered significant damage (due to the tornado) to our training room, break room and the roof of our building,” said Dave Johnson, director of operations to Consumer Solutions, LLC. “We are looking at 60-90 days to have that location back up and running.” Neosho was our first choice. We are not getting anything in Joplin obviously right now, and it is roughly about 14 minute drive from our old location. We had many employees already that worked there that are from Neosho.”

The business has been in existence for more than nine years.

“We do outbound and inbound call center work for various clients,” he said. “We are open pretty much from 6 a.m. to midnight, so we have multiple shifts available.”

They have positions for full-time days, evenings, part-time days and nights and are also open on the weekends.

“We work with businesses regarding their cable, or their high speed Internet, as far as residential cable, high speed Internet, Hughes Net is one of our inbound clients. People call in to order satellite Internet, so lots of cable, video, phone sales, upgrading customers phone services,” he said. “It is warm calls, our outbound calling is to existing customers, so we deal with existing customers and we also have new acquisition clients as well. We are calling people to garner their business and, of course, we have inbound, where they are calling to ask questions.”

Johnson also noted they have hired individuals from Neosho who have recently applied and there is also a possibility that when the Joplin location reopens, they might be in Neosho.

“There is a possibility, we have been very pleased with the initial recruiting thus far in this town (Neosho),” he said. “We are getting approximately 45-55 people per day to come in and fill out applications, we were able to hire more than 60 people in like a two-day span. We are aggressively taking more applications and actively seeking help.”

Johnson continued.

“We hope when we move (to Joplin) that they come with us and we are hoping that if things work out well, we are really feeling that there is a good opportunity maybe to keep this call center open as well, probably a smaller scale,” he said. “We have been very pleased with the amount of people who have came in and the quality of people Neosho has sent to us.”
