Neosho, Mo. -

Jeremy Koren, donation warehouse coordinator for Americorps-St. Louis, is asking for several supplies from the community for victims to pick up and use at the donation station set up at 1300 Howard Bush Drive, located near the Neosho Hugh Robinson Memorial Airport.

Koren said tarps are a definite need right now. He said there are Americorps crews out today helping residents tarp their roofs to prevent further damage to their homes, as thunderstorms are predicted this afternoon and evening.

He also said drinking water is a need, as is non-perishable foods and hygiene kits.

“That was one of our top needs (Monday),” Koren said.

He said the donation station has no pillows to give to residents.

“We will even take used ones, as long as there is a pillow cover for them,” he said. “We need any storage containers. We need boxes and bags. Also, we do not have a lot of baby food. So, we really need some baby food.”

Koren said clothing is not a need right now, and the station is no longer accepting clothing donations.

“We have what we have here already, and then we will refer people to the Salvation Army for clothing,” Koren said.

He said the donation station served more than 70 adults and 30 children Monday who were recovering from Saturday’s tornadic storm.

“I expect that figure to grow more (Tuesday),” Koren said.

The donation station is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The contact number is 314-591-6372. Persons may call before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m. to possibly arrange to pick up needed goods and supplies before or after hours.

“We will determine if we can get someone out here,” Koren said.
