Plans for the annual Indian Creek Chapter National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) banquet have been announced.

The banquet will be held on Saturday at the Lampo building. Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner to commence at 7 p.m. A live and silent auction will also be conducted, with games as well.

“The NWTF is the largest conservation group in the United States,” said Chuck Dalbom, a member of the NWTF. “When they buy a ticket to the turkey banquet, they are also helping the kids. It is an annual event and the purpose of it is to raise money for the promotion of the wild turkeys, the conservation and hunting of wild turkeys and also youth activities to help young people get interested in outdoor activities.”

Ticket prices are as follows: for just the dinner only, and the privilege of bidding on items, is $20. A membership and one dinner is $45, a membership and two dinners is $55 and if a group/business would like to sponsor or an individual would like to sponsor, it is $260. It is $10 for children.

Tickets are available the day of the event or in advance. Call Dalbom at 628-3253.

Dalbom noted items in the auctions range from turkey and wildlife prints, hunting items, chairs, knives, and jewelry to name a few.

Also during the event, there will be a scholarship presented to a graduating high school senior. The scholarship is for $250.
Dalbom noted there are requirements and the seniors should go online at www.nwtf.com to inquire. One of the requirements is the person needs to have a hunting license, he stated.

The National Wild Turkey Federation is a national nonprofit conservation and hunting organization that, along with its volunteers, partners and sponsors, has worked for the conservation of the wild turkey and preservation of America’s hunting heritage. When the NWTF was established in 1973, there were only 1.3 million wild turkeys.
