Several hurt in area accidents

A Granby woman sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash that took place at 7:10 a.m. Friday on U.S. 60, five miles north of Neosho.

Debra A. Patton, 53, was taken to Freeman Neosho Hospital for treatment.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened as a northbound 2002 Nissan Sentra driven by Patton was stopped in traffic and was rear-ended by a 1996 Acura Integra driven by Norman D. Johnston, 36, of Fairland, Okla. Johnston was not hurt in the crash.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, a patrol report noted.

A Joplin man sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash that took place at 1 a.m. Saturday on Apricot Drive, three miles west of Joplin.

Sean B. Lasswell, 49, was taken by ambulance to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin for treatment.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened as a westbound 2001 Ford Taurus driven by Lasswell traveled off of the roadway and overturned, striking a tree.

Lasswell was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, a patrol report noted.

A Neosho teen sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash that took place at 8 p.m. Friday on Kodiak Road, a mile south of Neosho.

Amanda M. Lasiter, 18, was taken to Joplin’s Freeman West Hospital of Joplin.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened as a northbound 1988 Ford Escort driven by Lasiter ran off of the left side of the roadway and overturned.

Lasiter was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, a patrol report noted.

A man and a 7-year-old boy sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash that took place at 6 p.m. Friday on U.S. 71, six miles south of Pineville.

Michael G. Shadley, 44, of Bentonville, Ark., and Jonathan S. Taylor, 7, of Fort Scott, Kan., were hurt in the crash. Shadley was taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers, Ark., while Taylor was taken by ambulance to Northwest Arkansas Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened as an eastbound 1997 Toyota Tacoma driven by Shadley failed to yield at a posted stop sign and pulled into the path of a southbound Chevrolet Impala driven by Michael R. Herrin, 34, of Fort Scott.

Shadley was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, but Taylor was, a patrol report noted.
