Crowder College is inviting the community to the sixth annual traditional music service, “A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.”
The event features traditional Christmas carols and selections from the Messiah interspersed with scripture readings and modeled after a service held at King’s College in Cambridge, England.
It’s Crowder’s sixth year to coordinate efforts for the service and the fifth year with an orchestra. This year, the Aurora Concert Choir will join with Crowder students and the 30-plus member Ozark Festival Orchestra, under the direction of Ken Meisinger, for two performances, one in Neosho and one in Monett. Jennifer Youngs will be the soloist.
The Neosho performance of “A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 at Calvary Baptist Church. The Monett performance of “A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” will be held at 3 p.m. Dec. 13 at United Methodist Church of Monett. Both performances are free and open to the public. For more information call 455-5634.
