Kevin Todd, 49, a Neosho man accused of physically and sexually assaulting his estranged wife has been granted a change of judge in his case.

Todd was granted the change during a pre-trial conference, held in Newton County Presiding Judge Timothy Perigo’s Neosho courtroom Monday afternoon. The request has been sent to the State Office of Court Administrator for reassignment, according to electronic court records filed on Case.Net.

Todd has been charged with several felony counts, including forcible rape or sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion, an unclassified felony; forcible sodomy or deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion, an unclassified felony; first-degree assault with serious physical injury, a Class A felony; armed criminal action, an unclassified felony; and felonious restraint, a Class C felony.

Todd is accused of holding his estranged wife hostage in the home for more than 12 hours. A probable cause affidavit filed by Neosho Patrolman Ericson Mathew stated the woman had been stabbed more than 20 times with a pronged barbecue fork before Todd allegedly forced her to have sex with him. He then reportedly tied her up in the bathroom before falling asleep.

Todd is being represented by Karen Klingbeil, an assistant public defender from Carthage.
