Two people were arrested in a drug raid Thursday in the 1200 block of Commercial Street in Neosho.
Neosho Police Det. Sgt. Jason Baird said a 53-year-old man was arrested on a charge of distribution of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. The distribution charge is a Class A felony in Missouri if the transaction took place within 2,000 feet of a school or 1,000 feet of a park.
Also arrested at the scene was a 42-year-old man on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and transporting a controlled substance into a detention facility. Baird said the latter charge was leveled after the man carried what is believed to be methamphetamine into the Newton County Jail.
Both suspects are awaiting the filing of formal charges by the Newton County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.
Officers were sent to the 1200 block of Commercial Street to serve a drug search warrant. During the search, Baird said, investigators located a large amount of what is suspected to be meth, individually packaged for resale, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of cash.
