A boil order remains in place for the city of Seneca after Monday’s flooding in the area.

An 8-inch water main under Little Lost Creek near the low water bridge ruptured after being exposed by floodwaters.

“When you get a break like that, it allows outside water to get into the system,” said Seneca Mayor Gary Roark.

Repairs are slated for Tuesday when an Arkansas company will bore under the creek and replace the faulty section of line. Once the repair is made and water quality is approved by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the boil order will be lifted.

The boil order is in place for all residences and businesses south of Route K and east of Missouri Highway 43. Other areas of town are not currently affected.

Free bottled water is available at the Seneca Police and Fire Station, 517 Oneida Street.

Citizens went through half of the seven pallets of water sent from the Walmart home office by mid-afternoon Thursday. Another 21 pallets arrived Saturday.
