Granby, Mo. -

An undercover drug bust Wednesday night netted one arrest in Granby.

Charges are pending on 28-year-old white male accused of illegally selling painkillers to an undercover officer with the Newton County Sheriff’s Department.

According to Captain Chris Jennings, chief sheriff’s deputy, the sting happened around 10:30 p.m. at a residence on 125 S. Cole St. in Granby. The suspect, whose name has not been released because formal charges have yet not been filed, purportedly sold 25 pills of Lorcet — a moderate prescription drug that is a mixture of acetaminophen and hydrocodone — to someone he thought was a legitimate buyer.

Instead, after the deal went down, the officer announced his identity and arrested the suspect himself, according to Jennings.

Jennings said the man didn’t put up any resistance.

“I think he was actually pretty shocked,” he said.

The unidentified suspect has already posted bond and awaits charges of distributing a controlled substance.
