A former clerk in the McDonald County prosecutor’s office accused of faking a cancer diagnosis and taking donations from co-workers and others has been bound over for trial.

During an arraignment Tuesday morning, Tammy R. Young, who faces two Class C felony counts of stealing, pleaded not guilty to two felony theft charges. Trial is set for April 20, with a pre-trial conference set for April 6. Both proceedings will be held in McDonald County with Judge Timothy Perigo presiding.

In February 2008, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by McDonald County Sheriff Robert Evenson, Young reportedly told co-workers she had been diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that affects the bones and soft tissues.
