The Neosho High School Speech and Debate squad finished first in the nation in accumulated rounds and won the prestigious Bruno E. Jacob Award at the National Forensic League National Speech and Debate tournament in Kansas City.
The Neosho squad also earned a handful of individual honors.
Chris Holweger tied for fifth place in supplemental debate, Bo Mahr took 48th place in U.S. Extemp, and Molly Shumaker advanced to the semifinal round in student congress-senate.
Others competing at the tournament were:
• Jeromy Alexander and Elizabeth Miller in Public Forum Debate;
• Alexsandra McMahan in Lincoln-Douglas Debate;
• Ethan Samuel in International Extemp;
• Lauren Gordon in International Extemp;
• Sam Parks in U.S. Extemp;
• Holweger in Student Congress-House of Representatives;
• Dillon Ezell in Dramatic Interp;
• Aaron Kocurek in Humorous Interp, and;
• Brad Stout in Humorous Interp.
