Tommie “Tom” Caldwell was born on his family’s farm in Anderson, the second of four children born to Herman and Goldie Caldwell. After graduating from Anderson High School in 1956, Tom immediately joined the United States Air Force and completed his basic training at Parks Air Force Base outside of San Francisco.

After graduating from Anderson High School in 1956, Tom immediately joined the United States Air Force and completed his basic training at Parks Air Force Base outside of San Francisco.
While stationed at RAF Wethersfield in the United Kingdom, Tom met and married in 1959 the love of his life, Catherine “Kitty” Hart of London, England. Tom and Kitty raised three sons while moving regularly between the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany. Tom served in the United States Air Force with distinction for over 40 years, and was awarded during his career the Air Force Commendation medal, the Meritorious Service medal, and the Outstanding Civilian Career Service award. He passed away on Dec. 24, 2017 in Mildenhall, England after a brief illness.
Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Catherine, Mildenhall, England, sons Andrew, London, England, and Terry and husband Scotty, Dallas, Texas, his brother Bobby, Neosho, his sister and husband, Mary Sue and Ray Gordon, Pineville, and many nieces and nephews residing in the United States, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Tom was preceded in death by his son Russel, parents Herman and Goldie, brother Jerry, and sister-in-law Bonnie Sue Caldwell.
