Michael Don Minear, 43, a resident of rural Neosho, died unexpectedly on Monday evening, Jan. 8, 2018, at his home of a heart attack. Michael had been in failing health for several months due to a variety of medical conditions.

Michael Don Minear, 43, a resident of rural Neosho, died unexpectedly on Monday evening, Jan. 8, 2018, at his home of a heart attack. Michael had been in failing health for several months due to a variety of medical conditions.
Michael Don Minear was born at Unionville, Mo., May 29, 1974, and is the son of Sheryl Jean Minear.  Michael gave his heart to Jesus and was baptized Palm Sunday, April 4, 1982, at Broadlawn Baptist Church, Unionville.  He rededicated himself to the Lord as a young adult at Webb City.  In the fall of 2017 Michael again rededicated himself to Our Lord.   He was raised on a farm at Unionville, until the age of 15 when he moved with his mother to Carthage, where he would attend Lamar High School and she would teach Special Education and Mathematics at Lamar Middle School.  Michael later earned his GED and then attended EMT classes at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. He worked in the Joplin area at various jobs including a cook, a welder, a logger, and spent several months working as a traveling welder with a national company, traveling and seeing the country until difficulty with his eyes forced him to find other employment.  He later earned his NA and CNA certifications to work at nursing homes in the Southwest Missouri area, his most recent employment was at Seneca House in Seneca.
Michael enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and working with wood, spending time with his family, working with the elderly, and he loved animals.
In 2006 Michael married Mary Bollig of Appleton City, MO.  They separated and she moved away in 2008.  
In 2008 Michael moved to rural Neosho, to live with close friends, Pat and Danny Durbin and son Jeff, whom he regarded as extended family.  This is where he remained.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Loris (Short) and Elizabeth (Betty) Minear, whom he loved dearly and missed greatly.  
Michael is survived by his mother, Sheryl Minear, Granby; his uncles and aunts Kevin and Tracy Minear, Granby, and Marvin and Kay Minear, Kearney, Mo.; nieces and nephews Brittany Minear, Granby, Kyle and Shirley Minear, Smithville, Mo.; Terrie Trimble, Sugarland, Texas, Kelly and Mark Makovic, Ankeny, Iowa; great aunt and uncle Karan and Norman Couchman, Des Moines, Iowa; many cousins including  Kay and Gale Newby, Racine; Scott and Melissa Dudalski, Carthage; Vanessa and Curt Harrison, Des Moines, Iowa; Lloyd Couchman, Des Moines, Iowa;  Pat Gonzalez, Delray Beach, Fla.; and Sonja Eaton, Houston, Mo.; and many other friends and relatives. Michael is also survived by his estranged wife, Mary Minear, Appleton City, Mo.
Michael’s remains were cremated.  Interment of the cremains at the Unionville City Cemetery, Unionville, Mo., beside his grandparents is planned when weather permits.
