Merle Jones, 96, formerly of Neosho, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the home of his son in Rogers, Ark.

Merle Jones, 96, formerly of Neosho, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the home of his son in Rogers, Ark. 
He was born Feb. 7, 1922 in Moline, Kan.,, to the late Orville and Ada Jones.
Merle D. Jones married Marietta Ellinwood in Wichita in 1942 in a union that lasted 68 years.
 In 1963, Merle and Marietta moved to Neosho where Merle continued work as a civil service inspector at Rocketdyne and later worked from the Joplin office.
Merle enjoyed watching his great-grandsons play baseball, soccer, basketball, track and any sport on TV. He was an avid fisherman and a dedicated gardener who provided vegetables for his family and friends.
Merle is survived by his son Merle Dean Jones Jr. and wife Elaine, Rogers, granddaughter April Regan, grandsons Landon, Morgan, and Marshall Jones, great-grandsons Luke, James, Jeff and Noah Regan, Wryan Satchel, Jagger Jones, great-granddaughter Juliet Jones, brother Glenn Jones, and extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Marietta, son Jimmie Jones, grandson Jeremiah Jones, and sister Bonnie Wesson.
Merle was a member of the High Street Christian Church in Neosho.
 In lieu of flowers his family requests thoughtful donations be sent to the church at 1720 High Street, Neosho, Mo.
Merle’s ashes will be buried at a later date in Moline, Kan..
