Mrs. Effie Arden Long, 68, Neosho, departed this life on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 28, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Effie entered this life on Nov. 23, 1941, in rural Delaware County, Okla., near Southwest City, Mo., born to the union of Evertt L. and Verna Pearl (Himegartdner) Cooper. Her formative years were spent in Goodman.

Throughout her life she worked in the field of management. She managed the Vicmon Motel and Restaurant in Canadian, Texas, the Eagle Picher Credit Union and for the last 14 years, she was the office manager at the Osage Door Company in Goodman, and later in Miami, Okla. She centered her life around her family and friends. Effie was of the Full Gospel Faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Keith and Ivan Cooper; a sister, Esther Lewis; and a niece, Terra Lewis.

Effie is survived by her two sons, Ronald Darin Mullin and fiancé, Tasha Fortune, Neosho, and Dennis Gene Mullin, also of Neosho; four grandchildren, Zachariah Mullin, Austin Moss, Raeann Moss and Tyler Moss; four sisters, Kathy Atkins and husband, Wayne, Kay Eberle and husband, Glen, Sue Schroeder and husband, Mike, and Verna Cooper; a sister in-law, Rolla Rigsby and husband, Harlen; a brother in-law, Terry Lewis and wife, Gina; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Long are 2 p.m. today in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastors Brock Cummins and Jared Lewis officiating. Private family burial will take place in the Lanagan Cemetery, Lanagan. Those honoring her life by serving as honorary pallbearers are Heith Lewis, Jared Lewis, Rowdy Cooper, Jay Parvin, Chad Parsley and Scott Barnes.

Memorials are being directed to the American Cancer Society and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
