Obituary for Mr. Duane ‘Dewey’ Beaver

Duane “Dewey” Beaver, 80, Granby, died at 10:55 a.m., Monday, Apr. 21, 2008, at Freeman Neosho Hospital, following a lengthy illness. 

He was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Granby, to William Dewey Beaver and Cynthia Anna (Capps) Beaver.

Mr. Beaver was a lifelong Granby area resident. He served as city marshal for the city of Granby for 27 years, and was in law enforcement for over 30 years. He was a member of Granby First Baptist Church.

Dewey is survived by a son, Richard Beaver, Cleaver, Mo.; a granddaughter, Jentry Burkhart; a great-granddaughter, Chloe Riffett; and a sister, Vivian Bridge, Granby. 

He was preceded in death by a brother, William “Bill” Beaver and a sister, Paula Kuester.

The body has been taken for cremation and a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m.
Thursday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel, Granby, with Rev. Fred Franks officiating, assisted by Rev. Rick Patterson.  Interment of cremains will follow at Granby Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday morning prior to the service.
