Mae V. Richards, 88, Neosho, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Medicalodge, following a lengthy illness.
Mae was born June 24, 1921 in Newton County, the daughter of William and Lillian (Middleton) Huffman. She was a lifelong area resident and had worked at Wal-Mart as a sales associate, was a homemaker and a member of High Street Christian Church.
Mae married Melvin Richards on March 6, 1936, at Neosho and he survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Kenneth Richards, Neosho; a daughter, Eula Hill and husband, Roy, Neosho; daughter-in-law, Liz Richards, Overland Park, Kan.; sister, Erma Shellenberger and husband, Fred, Neosho; two sisters-in-law, Christine Huffman, Webb City and Imogene Huffman, Joplin; four grandchildren, Randy Hill and wife, Diane, Granby, Phillip Hill and wife, Nancy, Lees Summit, Mo., Lisa Davey and husband, Michael, Columbia, S.C. and Dana Thompson and husband, Shannon, Vienna, Mo.; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Richards; and four brothers, Aryllis, Everett, Coy and Melvin Huffman. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, John W. Doolen, minister will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Randy Hill, Phillip Hill, Blake Hill, Paxton Hill, Conner Hill, Noah Hill and Brandon Davey.
Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.
