Ronald Roy Leiby, 63, Rocky Comfort, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 21, 2008.
On Oct. 22, 1944, Ronald was born at home in New Tripoli, Penn., to Raymond and Lula Leiby. As a young boy, he loved farming, building model cars, and being ornery.
When Ronald was a teenager, he was the proud owner of a 1953 Chevy Bellaire. He grew up to become a man with a sharp wit and a kind heart.
On June 22, 1968, Ronald Leiby fell in love and married his first and only wife, June Fritzinger. Last month was a milestone for Ronald and June Leiby, marking their 40th wedding anniversary. He deeply cherished his wife and was thankful to have been so blessed by June’s love and dedication.
Ronald and June Leiby moved to the McDonald County area in 1979. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Neosho, and Union Chapel in Bethpage. Ronald had worked as a bus and truck driver.
Ronald’s commitment to his family was endless and never failing. Tirelessly working to support his children, Ronald used to sit down hours on end to teach his children how to spell words, while his children competed in countless county and regional spelling bees. It was Ronald’s deepest desire that all of his children receive an education.
Survivors include his wife, June; a son, Brian Leiby, McDonald County; two daughters, Sarah Baker and husband, Ryan, Webb City, and Bonnie Leiby Joplin; two brothers, Larry Leiby, Washington D.C. and Tom Drozdowski Boulder, Colo.; a sister, Nancy Leiby, Allentown, Penn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ronald’s name to the Joplin Association of the Blind.
Funeral services for Ronald Leiby will be conducted by Pastor Doubek at 10 a.m. on Thursday, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson. Burial will be a later date in Union Cemetery, near Stella.
On-line condolences may be sent to the family at www.ozarkfuneralhome.com.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home, Anderson.
