Ray Dean Snethern, 70, Neosho, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at St. John’s Medical Center, Joplin, following a sudden illness.  

Mr. Snethern was born Oct. 22, 1939, in Mt. View, Ark., and moved to the area in 1977 from West Plains, Mo. He had worked in the sawmill industry and in the sanitation department of Butterball and Tyson Foods and was a member of the Apostolic Church in Neosho.  

He is survived by his wife, Debbie of the home; seven children, Shawna Andrews, Neosho, Jim Tuggle, Neosho, Donnie Snethern, Danny Snethern and Ronnie Snethern, all of West Plains, Mo., Sandy Clary, Dallas, Texas, and Peggy Snethern, West Plains; four brothers, Bud Snethern, West Plains, Jerry Snethern, Birchtree, Mo., Randall Snethern, West Plains, and J.B. Snethern, Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Louise Robertson, West Plains, and Debbie Greason, Springfield, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Shawndel Martin, Danielle Andrews, Donald Snethern, Jr., Kimberly Snethern, Heather Snethern, Kaylee Jenkins, Cody and Hannah Clary and Danni Jo Snethern; and a great-grandchild, Layla Marie.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Cordy Snethern; sister, Maxine Duncan; and brother, J.C. Snethern; and two nephews.  

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Granby Memorial Cemetery, Rev. Melvin Snethern will officiate.
