Denice D. Butler, 61, Neosho, died at her home, Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, following a short illness. 

She was born Oct. 28, 1948, Cassville.

Denice moved to Neosho in 1971. She began working for the Energy Assistance Program with the Missouri Department of Economic Security in 1993. In 1997, she began working in contract services for the state of Missouri, supervising visits of foster care children, with the Division of Family Services Children’s Division in Newton County.  She was a member of Chapter JO P.E.O., and the Neosho United Methodist Church, where she was also a member of the choir.

Denice and Rick Butler were married Sept. 7, 1968, Neosho; Rick survives. 

Additional survivors include two sons, Craig Butler, Columbia, Mo., and Brian Butler, Sacramento, Calif.; her mother, Lorena Watson, Neosho; her father, H. O. “Hoss” Nations, Rogers, Ark.; a brother, Bruce Nations, of the state of North Carolina; two sisters, Laura Nations, Olathe, Kan., and Sandy Smith, Denver, Colo.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Neosho United Methodist Church, with Rev. Sara Chaney officiating.

Following the services, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Newton County Foster Care Children’s Fund, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, 64850.
