Larry Gene Elger, 62, Neosho, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at his home.  

He was born Aug. 5, 1949, in Kirksville, Mo.

Larry and Retha (Hood) were married Aug. 28, 1976, in Miami, Okla., and in 1985, they moved to Neosho, from Kirksville.   

Larry worked at La-Z-Boy Mfg. for many years, retiring in August 2011, and attended the Church of the Nazarene, Neosho.

He is survived by his wife, Retha, of the home; his father, Kenneth Alger, Kirksville; two brothers-in-law, Richard Hood and wife, Margaret, Olathe, Kan., and Rodney Hood, Neosho; and niece and nephews, Matthew Hood, Kandi Roeske and Wesley Hood

He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Elger.

The body has been taken for cremation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Church of the Nazarene, 1045 Fair Hill Dr., Neosho.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Creation Museum, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, 64850

Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
