Thomas J. Buchanan, Sr., 54, Wichita, Kan., former Neosho resident, died on June 26, 2008 at his home in Wichita, following a recent illness. 

Thomas was born Dec. 10, 1953 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Harold J. and Jacqulyne (Nickens) Buchanan. He graduated from Neosho High School and following graduation, obtained a bachelor of science degree and a degree in aviation maintenance and was a FAA inspector. He served in the U.S. Air Force, having served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, retiring from the Air Force in 1998 at the rank of master sergeant. 

He is survived by his parents, Harold and Jacqulyne Buchanan, Neosho; one son, Thomas J. Buchanan, Jr., Neosho; three daughters, Kenda Woodychak and Holly D. Anderson, both of Webb City; Jennifer Buchanan, Haysville, Kan.; two sisters, Teresa Wilkins, Beaufort, Mo., and Abby Beeler, Joplin, and much loved nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. 

The body has been taken for cremation and a memorial service for Thomas J. Buchanan, Sr. will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Rev. Clifford Smith will officiate.  Inurnment services will follow at the Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.
