Ernestine M. (Stussy) Wiford, 85, died at 7:50 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2008, at Freeman Neosho Hospital, following a short illness. 

She was born April 27, 1922, in Stella, to Charley and Bertha (Sturgeon) Linton.

Mrs. Wiford was a lifelong area resident. She was a homemaker and worked as a sales clerk at McGinty’s Dept. Store for many years. She was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church and the VFW Post 4142 Auxiliary.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her first husband, Hugh Stussy, her second husband, Cecil Wiford, and a son, Charles D. Stussy.

Survivors include a son, Ray Stussy, Neosho; four grandchildren, Shad Stussy, Tony Stussy, Lalisa Bradford and Terry Stussy; four great-grandchildren, Anthony Stussy, Amanda Stussy, Sagan Vreeland and Eron Bradford; and a sister, Lena Underwood, Joplin.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday at Clark Chapel of Memories, with burial following at Hazel Green Cemetery, Boulder City.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
