Obituary for Mr. Floyd Hawkins

Floyd Hawkins, 60, Seneca Missouri’s friendly Fed-Ex man, passed away 5:30 p.m., April 17, 2008 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin after a courageous battle with cancer.

He showed us all how to live how to laugh and most of all how to love. He was born Nov. 21, 1947 in Princeton, Mo., the son of Claude and Jessie Hawkins and had worked for Fed-ex 23 years.

Floyd married the love of his life, Barbara on Dec. 7, 1968. He loved to play on his tractor and was a huge fan of the KC Chiefs and the Atlanta Braves.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Elaine Reynolds and Joyce Wisby.

Survivors include his wife Barbara; two sons, Brad Hawkins and wife, Holly, Seneca, and Justin Hawkins, Bath, Maine; one brother Jim Hawkins, Neosho; one sister, Loraine Harris and husband, Jon, Seneca; two granddaughters Laney and Emma; many nieces and nephews, special friends and his Fed-ex family.

Funeral services, were under the personal care of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, and were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, at the Hornet Community Building with John St Clair officiating. Burial was in the Hornet Cemetery with Gary Hawkins, Curtis Davis, Jerry DeMoss, Jesse DeMoss, Roy Nelson and Mike Widerer serving as pallbeares.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Truth Campaign (an anti smoking campaign aimed at kids), in care of the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, P.O. Box 380 Seneca, 64865.
