Norman Alvin Thomas, 94, Neosho, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at Cox South Hospital, in Springfield, Mo., following a long illness.
He was born Nov. 14, 1917, in Claremore, Okla., to William Alvin Thomas and Hettie (Conrad) Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was a lifelong Neosho area resident and served in the Army-Air Corps during World War II. He was a machinist for Pet Milk Co. for many years, retiring in the early 1970s. He had been a member of Bible Holiness Assembly of God, in Neosho, since 1955.
Norman and Dorothy (Darlington) were married July 9, 1941, in Nevada, Mo. She preceded him in death May 17, 2009.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Cuzick, Nov. 30, 2010; and a brother, Frank Thomas.
He is survived by a daughter, Norma Simmons and husband, Roger, Springfield, Mo.; a son-in-law, John Cuzick, Monrovia, Maryland; three grandchildren, Amy Love, Philip Simmons, and Crystal Capps; three great-grandchildren, Brienna Simmons, Juliette Love and Christopher Love; two brothers, Ralph Thomas, Petaluma, Calif., and Ted Thomas, Austin, Texas; and three sisters, Revay Brannan, Ft. Scott, Kan., and Thelma Chestnut and Dorothea Stratton, Redwood, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, at Bible Holiness Assembly of God, with Rev. Daniel Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in IOOF Cemetery, Neosho.
Friends may call at the funeral home in Neosho, from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Wednesday, where the family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Wednesday.
