  O. C. “Bud” Buddenhagen, 97, a lifelong resident of Parsons, Kan., died at 6:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Elmhaven East Nursing Home, Parsons.

He was born Sept. 21, 1912, in Parsons, to Edward and Tonie I. (Bocha) Buddenhagen. He grew up and attended school in Parsons.  From 1945-1973, he was owner and operator of the former B & R Tire Service on North Central in Parsons.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Parsons. Following his retirement, he enjoyed golfing and going to casinos.

He and Veva Marion Pace were married March 12, 1938, in Independence, Kan. She preceded him in death July 13, 1997.

Survivors include: one son, Ron Buddenhagen and wife, Glenda, Parsons; five grandchildren, Mark Johnston and wife, Jodi, Parsons, Kelley Hurst and husband, Phillip, Parsons, Shawn Johnston and wife, Kayla, Parsons,  Kerri Beardmore and husband, Gerald, Parsons, Brent Johnston and wife, Julie, Parsons; and six great-grandchildren.          
                          
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers; two sisters; a daughter, Marilyn Johnston; and son-in-law, Herman Johnston.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Parsons. Friends may call from 1-6 p.m., Sunday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, Parsons.

Memorials are suggested to Labette Health Auxiliary. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, 67357.
