Rick Friend, 49, Neosho, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Seneca.
Rick was born Aug. 1, 1961, in Neosho, and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Neosho High School, class of 1979, earned an associate’s degree and currently worked at La-Z-Boy in Neosho as a night supervisor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to casinos.
Rick married Loella Corning on Aug. 2, 1985, in Miami, Okla., and they recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
In addition to his wife, Loella, he is survived by four daughters, Ellen Friend, Neosho, Danielle Friend, Albertville, Ala., Mandi I. Friend, Joplin, and Misti Bivens, Tulsa, Okla.; his mother, Rose Mary Austin, Goodman; three brothers, James Friend, Neosho; Johnny Friend, Winfield, Kan., and Mark Friend, Granby; two sisters, Marilyn Leonard, Ariz., and Cheryl Bond, Goodman; and three grandchildren, Alexander Mendoza, Christian Mendoza and Christopher Hess.
He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Friend.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Roger Owens will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Salem Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Lafe Friend, Junior Jones, Jason Smart, Bill Maroney, David Leonard and Jarrett Jones.
Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The casket will be closed at all times.
