Obituary for Mr. Ken M. Dowd

Ken M. Dowd, 71, Granby, died at 3:06 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2008, at St. John’s Medical Center, following a short illness. 

Mr. Dowd was born Sept. 20, 1936, in Wynnewood, Okla., and moved to the Granby area in 1986 from California and had served in the U.S. Army. Ken worked as an EMT for the City of Santa Barbara, Calif., and as a cook in various restaurants. He was a member of the DAV, VFW, American Legion and National Order of Trench Rats.  Ken married Madelyn (DuShane) on Oct. 28, 1966, at Long Beach, Calif., and she preceded him in death, June 11, 2004. 

He is survived by two daughters, Annette Stingley, Granby, and Mary Ada Nearing, Everett, Wash.; and five step-children, Richard Rosenow, Granby, Mary Pounds, Kingman, Ariz., Sandi Probst, Garden Grove, Calif., Allen Rosenow, Indian Harbor Beach, Fla. and Kathi Lewis, Granby; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. 

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Rev. Ralph Walker will officiate. Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery, Seneca, and serving as pallbearers will be Richard Rosenow, Allen Rosenow, Jonathan Ogden, Brian Rosenow, Russell Stingley and Michael Evans. 

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Contributions in memory of Ken may be made to the DAV, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, 64850.
