Evelyn Janis Youngblood, 74, Diamond, went to be with the Lord, Friday, Feb. 5, 2010.
Evelyn was born Dec. 17, 1935, in Diamond, the daughter of Raymond and Cleo (Albott) Bull. She graduated from Diamond High School and was a lifelong area resident.
She married her high school sweetheart, Martin Youngblood on Feb. 26, 1955, in Diamond and they shared 55 years of marriage together.
They raised their family on a farm in Diamond and were members of the Diamond Christian Church.
In addition to her husband, Martin, Evelyn is survived by four children, Deanna Caviness, Joplin, Bruce Youngblood, Diamond, Rhonda White, Carthage, and Doug Youngblood, Diamond; nine grandchildren, Erin Caviness, Tyler Caviness, Jessi Youngblood, Jake Youngblood, Grant White, Ivy White, Logan Myers, Dylan Myers and Carter Youngblood; one great-grandchild, Hunter Caviness; and two sisters, Colleen Cook and Joy Martin, both of Joplin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Wylene Langford.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She loved God and lived her faith in her daily life. One of the things she did to minister to people was to write notes of encouragement, writing at least 10 notes weekly. It was her passion to cook for her children and grandchildren and she will always be remembered by her grandchildren for her candy cabinet, where she kept all of their favorite candy. Evelyn was a cornea donor.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Diamond Christian Church, Rev. Mike Whorlow will officiate. Interment will follow in the Diamond Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
