Mr. Richard Paul Harber, 93, Neosho, formerly of Goodman, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, at his home with his wife by his side.

Paul began his journey on Aug. 19, 1915, in Seminole, Okla., one of seven children born to the late Henry and Montie (Day) Harber. He was raised in Seminole and was a 1932 graduate of Seminole High School. He earned his bachelors of science degree in 1936 from OSU in Stillwater, Okla. Paul served his country faithfully in the United States Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he moved to Tulsa, Okla., and began his career in Jersey cattle ranching. 

On Aug. 18, 1951, in Tulsa, he was united in marriage to Barbara Burton and together they have shared the last 57 years. 

In 1965, Paul decided to switch from Jersey cattle to raising of Paint horses. 

In 1979, he and Barbara moved to rural Goodman, and purchased a farm in the McNatt Community. He was also known as a land developer in both Oklahoma and Missouri. Paul served on the board of directors for both the American Jersey Cattle Club and the American Paint Horse Association. He was past president of the Crowder College Foundation, where he served for several years and was currently serving as president of the Neosho Senior Center. He was also a member of several local bridge clubs.

His parents and five brothers preceded him in death.

Paul is survived by his wife, Barbara Harber of the home; a son, Richard Harber and wife, Telma, Tulsa; two daughters, Cynthia and Betsy Harber, Poteau, Okla.; two grandchildren, Matthew and Samantha Harber, both of Tulsa; a brother, Charles Harber, Tulsa; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Memorial services for Mr. Harber are 1 p.m. Monday in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes, with Alan Marble, Dennis Harber, Jack Jones and Jerry Seigel officiating. 

Memorials are being directed to the Crowder College Scholarship Fund and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
