Geraldine ‘Jeri’ Rouse, 70, Granby, died Friday, June 26, in Neosho, following a lengthy illness.

Jeri was born Aug. 1, 1938 in Granby, the daughter of Wilbur and Viola (Beck) Shipman. She graduated from Granby High School in 1955 and graduated from Burge School of Nursing in Springfield, Mo. in 1958. She worked at Sale Memorial Hospital – Freeman Neosho Hospital as an RN for 32 years and at Trinity Hospice for three years before her retirement.

Jeri adored her parents, was a doting and loving wife and mother and devoted her life to her passion of nursing. She loved to travel, having traveled to Spain, Ireland, Mexico, Nova Scotia, Italy and other places, but she was most at peace at her cabin on the river where she loved to cook, garden, float, fish and pamper her hummingbirds. A woman of great faith, Jeri found God in nature.  Favorites of Jeri were coffee, ice cream, reading and making the best chili rellenos in the world. But, most of all, Jeri defined ‘true grace.’

On Nov. 3, 1960, Jeri and Ted Rouse were married in Granby and he survives.

Additional survivors include a son, James Wade Rouse of the state of Michigan and many, many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Todd Rouse; and sister, Peggy Beck White.

A celebration of life for Jeri will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Granby, Dr. Jerry Seigel, Rev. Al Gritten and Fred Franks will officiate. Interment will be in the Granby Memorial Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Guppy, Robert Williams, Dr. Robert Betz, Dr. Richard Betz, Bill Crowe, Dr. Marion Weston and Lonnie Stetina.

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and the family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in Neosho.
