Evelyn Marie Siler, 91, Neosho, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at Medicalodge in Neosho.
Evelyn was born Sept. 5, 1917 in Stark City, the daughter of Clyde and Mollie Allman. She graduated from Midway High School in 1935 and following high school, graduated from Monett Jr. College in 1937 and taught third grade at Midway Grade School for two years. She received a degree from Ft. Hays State University in elementary education and taught 17 years in Plainville, Kan.
When her husband was transferred to Logan, Kan., she taught 10 years and during her teaching career, she taught the third grade. She was a member of Neosho First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Evelyn and Howard Turner Siler were married on June 9, 1939, and shared 39 years together.
They lived in Kansas for 36 years, where Howard was employed as a gauger for Kaw Pipeline. In 1976, Howard and Evelyn retired and returned home to Neosho.
Howard preceded Evelyn in death on Sept. 25, 1978.
She is survived by a daughter, Mollie Sharon Williams and husband, Clayton, Meriden, Kan.; a son, Kenneth Richard Siler and wife, Ann, Neosho; one brother, Kenneth Allman, Fresno, Calif.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Allman; and sister, Wylene Newton.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Dr. Jerry Seigel will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dice Cemetery, Fairview.
Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from noon to 4 p.m. today and the family will receive friends from noon until service time Monday at the funeral home.
