Dorothy ‘Jean’ Williams, 86, Neosho, died Feb. 2, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Neosho, following a three month illness. 

Jean was born June 24, 1923, in Topeka, Kan., and worked as a supervisor at the American Bindery in Topeka. She owned and operated the Mustang Café in Anderson, and worked as a sales clerk at the Airport Shopping Center in Neosho. She was a longtime member of TOPS No. 0785 and was a Baptist.

Jean was very much loved by her family. 

She married Rollie Williams on July 8, 1939, in Olathe, Kan., and he preceded her in death in 1988. 

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Sassman, Richview, Ill., and Rita Reynolds, Neosho; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Singer, Tucomsa, Kan., and Rosetta Williams, of the state of Louisanna; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jean Williams on Aug. 12, 1943; and a grandson, John Scott Sassman in 2003. 

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  Following the visitation, the body will be taken for cremation. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jean may be made to TOPS 0785 or the First Lutheran Church, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, 64850.
