Good Morning, Wildcat Nation!
The Christmas Season is upon us! This is definitely one of my favorite times of the year - being in the “kid business” I believe it is contagious.
As I reflect on this first semester I can’t help but be proud of all the things we have accomplished and are continuing to accomplish on a daily basis for the youth of Neosho. We are very fortunate to live in a community that supports education and takes great pride in its schools. As I thought about what to share this holiday season I thought I would reflect on the importance of family.
In the hustle and bustle of this ever-changing world it is extremely important that students have a firm family foundation. Students are hit with a great number of stresses throughout the day at school, whether we as adults consider them stresses or not. To succeed, grow, and be happy, students need to have a place where they can decompress and find peace and safety. Home should be the place where, to coin a phrase “a kid can be a kid,” a place where fun exists and they can be themselves. I think this is true of adults too, everyone needs to have a place they feel safe, a place to relax and escape from the demands of society. If we create this environment for kids and model for them that it is not just okay but necessary, we will be giving them a gift with no monetary amount but that is truly priceless.
As we enter this holiday season and a time of break from school, I would like to urge everyone to take the extra time to spend with family; Take time while kids are away from school and crazy schedules, to enjoy them. While away from school, students will recharge their batteries for the second half of the year and be refreshed and ready to learn when they return.
I hope this season is a time of making memories for all of our students - along with some rest, relaxation, and recharging. Have a very Merry Christmas and we look forward to a GREAT New Year!
