Spring has sprung and it is turning into a bloomin’ event!   This coming Saturday the north end of Morse Park will be filled with hundreds upon hundreds of very short people all on one specific mission and that is to gather up as many colored hollow plastic shells as possible.
Included with the Great Egg Eggstravaganza, attendees will have bounce houses and other great inflatables at their disposal. If you can get these excited, hyper, short pants to slow down for a minute, someone will give them a hotdog, popcorn or snow cone to help fuel the fire that’s driving that little engine.  There will be prizes to motivate the less enthused and face-painting for those who want to make a statement or just declare their allegiance to a specific Scottish Clan.
Well, maybe that’s not what that is for, but hey don’t judge me! Great fun is guaranteed for all! While this is not specifically a City of Neosho sponsored event, it is great to have promotions provided by others that will draw such a crowd.  This is a great family event without any bias, politics or hidden meanings, just fun with the kids. Sunday you can once more take control as a parent and calm it down for a great family day. Leave the trivial behind, but keep the memories of that mass of kids, including yours, having a great time in Morse Park. You can only hope you took enough pictures.
On Tuesday we will turn to politics and a more serious note than short people running with abandon.  The voting population of the City of Neosho will have the opportunity to select representation for the City Council.  This year there are two seats open for City Council and responsible citizens are called to do their civic duty and proffer their opinion in the form of a vote as to who will occupy those seats for the next 3 years.  Information about the candidates can be found in a Q&A that will run in the Neosho Daily News, perhaps this very edition. Check out the candidates and never assume, because when you assume, you make an……well you know.  Every vote counts so check out the candidates, run with abandon to the polls and at the very least get involved in your City Government!
The events will just keep rolling through.  While you can search on every local site, a central Facebook page tries to bring these all together.  Check out the Facebook page Neosho Area Community Events as this provider works to assemble events from the City of Neosho, Chamber of Commerce, Crowder College, Neosho School District, YMCA, local businesses and every possible source for a one stop shop of event listing.  To see the Events listing, access the tab on the left side of the homepage labeled Events. If you thought this week had some big events then next week will be a regular whirlwind because there is much more to come.

Paul Richardson is the director of public relations and events for the city of Neosho.
