We are going to do something different to engage the public. On Tuesday, Tuesday, April 3, from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Denny's community room in Neosho, we will host Coffee with the Editor.
These events - which will take place on a monthly basis and at different locations (we will post where the following locations will be a week in advance). We are encouraging you - our readers and the public - to come out, tell us what you would like to see in the Daily News, tell us concerns that you have about your community, ask questions and give input and so for. As an added treat, we will buy you coffee.
Also, we will bring the current issue of the Daily News so that you can look over it, but also read it.
I have seen a wide range of these Coffee with either the chief of police or superintendent or other public officials becoming more and more common in communities. This is a great way to communicate with you, our readers.
Newspapers are a vital aspect of any community. From time to time, I know that if it is either myself or Lee Ann Murphy, reporter or even Brock Sisney, sports writer, if we are just out and about in the community at the grocery station or a local restaurant, we have people coming up to us giving us story ideas. And that is what we want, we want input from you the readers. Since 1905, you have made this newspaper thrive.
We at the Daily News want you, our readers, to enjoy the paper and what we bring to you. At the Daily News, we thrive on local events, local coverage and local coverage of council meetings, school board meetings, the general features. Basically, if is news to you, it is news to us.
So again, I want to invite each and everyone of you to come to these Coffee with the Editor. The coffee will be ready.
