FRONTENAC, Kan. — The Neosho Lady Wildcats surpassed their win total of all last season with a 50-34 victory over the Nevada Lady Tigers in the fifth place game of the fifth annual Kansas Army National Guard Invitational.
Embodying that old saying about what a difference a day makes, Neosho made 14 of 16 free throws in the second half and 11-13 in the fourth quarter Saturday night after a polar opposite performance — 1-10 second half, 1-9 fourth quarter — shooting free throws Friday night against Blue Springs.
The Lady Wildcats used a 15-2 scoring run to end the first half, converting a 16-8 deficit into a 23-18 halftime lead, and then built on a five-point lead in the fourth with their free throw shooting.
