The Neosho Wildcats, boys and girls basketball teams, have both already surpassed last season’s win totals, the boys passed last season’s nine wins with a 65-57 win Thursday over Claremore (Oklahoma) in the Pittsburg Border Classic and the girls passed last season’s 12 wins with a 50-34 win Saturday over Nevada in the Kansas Army National Guard Invitational.

“We accomplished one of our goals in this tournament,” Neosho head coach Tony Branscum said, “which was to get to the double-digit win mark. We got there fairly early in the season, so we’re very pleased with that. The Blue Valley game is what it is, but today (Saturday against Atchison), we really thought we had a chance to grab another win, take third place and get some things done. It just didn’t happen, we’re disappointed in that and so we’ll do better.”
