JOPLIN — Neosho resident Zak Tucker won the 69th annual Ozark Amateur, propelled by his putter on Sunday afternoon.

JOPLIN — Neosho resident Zak Tucker won the 69th annual Ozark Amateur, propelled by his putter on Sunday afternoon.
Tucker made birdie putts on the final three holes and carded a final round 5-under-par 66 at the Schifferdecker Municipal Golf Course.
Over the two-day event, Tucker finished a 8-under-par 134, while first day leader Tyler Carson (Jenks, Oklahoma) finished second with a two-day total of 137. Tucker’s putter kept Carson at bay and Carson shot a 71 on the final day.
Paul Ashe, Griffen Locke, Evan Wood, and Tyler Lansford finished in a four-way tie for third at 138.
Last year, Ashe won the title at 9-under 133, with Locke third at 5-under 137 and Lansford fourth at 4-under 138.
Locke edged out Ashe for the 2015 title. Icem Brewer won the 2014 crown.
Tucker’s father Scott won the senior division title on Sunday.
