MONETT — The Neosho Lady Wildcats took eight of nine matches Thursday from Monett to improve to 2-3 on the season after dual wins over Lamar and Monett this week.
Having lost their first 27 varsity matches last season, the Lady Wildcats won 16 of 18 against Monett and Lamar.
In singles competition, No. 1 Sarah Werner lost 8-1 to Tiffany Hull, but No. 2 Emily Mitchell defeated Ruby Vela 8-1, No. 3 Baylee Scribner defeated Stacy Hurtado 9-7, No. 4 Kennedy Watts defeated Diana Rodriguez 8-0, No. 5 Chaney Long defeated Melanie Hernandez 8-1, and No. 6 Mariah Pina defeated Emily Payne 8-1.
On the doubles side, No. 1 Werner-Mitchell defeated Hull-Hurtado 8-5, No. 2 Scribner-Watts defeated Vela-Rodriguez 8-3, and No. 3 Long-Pina defeated Hernandez-Payne 8-2.
Neosho returns to action today with a double dual against Central Ozark Conference Large foes Republic and Ozark. Ozark enters today 4-2 on the season and Republic a perfect 7-0.
