Crowder sophomore pitcher Aaron Ashby announced his commitment to the University of Tennessee on Friday.

Ashby will become a Volunteer for the 2019 season.

The Texas Rangers selected Ashby in the 25th round (764th overall pick) of the MLB Draft in June, but Ashby opted to return to Crowder for his sophomore campaign.

During his freshman season at Crowder, Ashby helped the Roughriders reach the JUCO World Series and finish sixth in the nation both as a starter and out of the bullpen.

In 18 appearances, including 11 starts, Ashby finished with a 7-0 record and a 4.09 ERA, plus five saves, two complete games, and 93 strikeouts blanked against 56 walks over 66 innings.

Crowder finished with a 54-14 overall record.

Tennessee finished 27-25 overall and 7-21 in the SEC last season.
