REPUBLIC — Just a night after beating their district and conference rival Carl Junction Bulldogs 2-1 for their first win of the season, the road warrior Neosho Wildcats were like Willie Nelson and on the road again Thursday night against the Republic Tigers in another Central Ozark Conference Large match.

Unfortunately, for the Wildcats, Dylan Brown's boots were ballistic for Republic and his five goals led the Tigers to a 7-1 win.

Republic's been on fire, as the win Thursday gave the Tigers a 10-2 overall record and an eight-match winning streak. Nixa last beat Republic, on August 29.

Bryan Perez scored Neosho's only goal in the 66th minute.

Brown scored his goals in the fifth, seventh, and 11th minutes of the first half, then picked up two more in the 52nd and 55th minutes, respectively. Josh Gallardo and Elijah Masten added the other goals.

Neosho dropped to 1-7 and the Wildcats, after seven consecutive matches away from home (Carthage, Nixa, three in the Parkview Tournament, Carl Junction, and Republic), return home Tuesday and Thursday for respective matches against Branson and McDonald County.

The Wildcats have five of their next seven matches at home, before finishing out the regular season on the road against Monett and Parkview.

Neosho has been awarded the right to host the Class 3, District 12 tournament this season, a four-team district featuring McDonald County and Webb City in addition to Carl Junction and Neosho, who battled for the district title last season.
