MARSHFIELD — The East Newton Lady Patriots traveled Thursday to Marshfield looking for their first win and returned home with their ninth loss, falling 53-22 to the Lady Blue Jays.

Marshfield stormed out to a 20-5 lead after one quarter and outscored East Newton 28-7 in the first and fourth quarters.

East Newton played a 12-8 third quarter with Marshfield, but it was difficult to make up much ground after falling behind by 15 points after one quarter.

Kinsey Sorrell enjoyed another double-digit scoring night for the Lady Patriots, leading the way with 12 points behind a pair of 3-point shots.

Robin Hussong added six more points for the Lady Patriots, all on 3-point goals.

In fact, East Newton scored 15 of its 22 points from long range shots.

Alexis Moon and Camyrn Smith each scored 10 for Marshfield, while Alliyatti Joiner scored eight. Nine different Marshfield players reached the scoring column.
