After knocking off a nationally-ranked opponent Friday night, the North Little Rock Charging Wildcats came back Saturday night to finish off business with a 68-57 win over the St. Joseph Lafayette Fighting Irish in the championship game of the 63rd annual Neosho Holiday Classic.

Tournament MVP Moses Moody, a 6-foot-5 sophomore guard already entertaining multiple offers from Division I schools, scored all of his 12 points in the first half and he snagged 11 rebounds.

Collin Moore and Otis Jordan each led the way for the Charging Wildcats with 14 points, while Spencer Simes put together a 13-point performance.

North Little Rock limited St. Joseph Lafayette to 29.6 percent (8-27) shooting overall from the field and 27.3 percent (3-11) from 3-point range.

The Fighting Irish had an off shooting night from deep, 5-23 or 21.7 percent.

Diego Bernard, a signee with defending NCAA Division II national champions Northwest Missouri, led the Fighting Irish with 22 points, seven rebounds, six assists, one steal, and one blocked shot. Bernard made a killing at the free throw line with a 10-12 night.

Ike Book added 20 points and eight rebounds, and hit three 3-point shots. Ontreyoni Washington had 11 points and six rebounds.

Moody, Bernard, and Book, of course, all made the all-tournament team.

Neosho’s Brady Wise represented the local schools on the 11-player team, joined by North Little Rock’s Collin Moore, Cypress Falls’ Nigel Hawkins, Memphis Mitchell’s Michael Rice, Maumelle’s Brahm Harris, West Memphis’ Chris Moore, Van Buren’s Presley Kindrix, and Morrilton’s Xavier Wright.

The Cypress Falls Eagles, ranked No. 21 nationally by USA Today, were expected by many to win a Holiday Classic title, but they were knocked off by North Little Rock in overtime Friday night in the semifinals.

Cypress Falls rebounded Saturday with a 15-point victory over a strong Mitchell squad coached by former Memphis standout and professional basketball player Andre Turner.

Cypress Falls' 6-foot-4 senior guard Nigel Hawkins made sure there would be no letdown, as he carried the Eagles on his back, especially in the second half.

Hawkins scored a new tournament-high 33 points behind 23 alone in the second half, one more point than the previous high of Neosho's Brady Wise achieved Thursday against Memphis Middle College.

Hawkins made 8 of 11 shots from the floor and while his emphatic breakway dunk may have garnered the most attention, he shot 16 of 19 from the stripe.

Desheng Weaver and Zach Stephenson, 6-8 and 6-7 seniors respectively, finished with 16 and 11 points, respectively. Stephenson hit three 3-pointers.

Andrew Nguyen dished out nine assists and had three steals.

Michael Rice paced Memphis Mitchell with 21 points behind four 3-point shots and Ra'She France picked up nine points.
